George Welsh was born circa 1707 in Over Minzion, Tweedsmuir. Janet Welsh was born circa 1710. I am unclear if Welsh was her maiden name or if it was something different. I have no further knowledge of her family to date.

Janet died in 1753 at ‘Carterhope Farm’ in Tweedsmuir, and George died in 1771 at ‘Corehead’ in Tweedsmuir.

George and Janet’s daughter, Ann Welsh, was born in 1747 at ‘Carterhope Farm’. This farm laid on the south side of the valley. ‘Roundtstonefoot’, where Adam Tait was born, was just over the hills.
Their oldest son John, our ancestor, was born at ‘Shortwoodend’ but by the time their fourth child, Mary, was born, the family were living back at Carterhope where Adam was a shepherd.
