Adam Tait was employed by Ann’s father, George at ‘Corehead’ in Tweedsmuir. Ann Welsh and Adam Tait were married on the 5th of April, 1767 in Moffat, Dumfries.

The document outlining the marriage of Ann and Adam states ‘This day Adam Tate late servant at Corehead and Ann Welsh his Masters daughter was proclaimed the third and last time’
Adam and Ann’s children include
1. John - born on the 14th of June, 1767 in Shortwoodend, Moffat Water, Dumfries, and died on the 7th of August, 1835 in the same area; married Jean / Jane Renwick during 1797 - our direct ancestor
2. David - born on the 5th of March, 1768 in Ettrick, Selkirk, southern Scotland and died 1801
3. Janet Martin - born on the 3rd of June, 1771 and died in 1844; married Thomas Martin, who had been born circa 1767
4. Mary Borthwick - born on the 30th of March, 1774 and died on the 16th of September, 1853 at ‘Carterhope’ Dumfriesshire; married Thomas Borthwick, born circa 1774 and died on the 22nd of December, 1847 also at ‘Carterhope’ Dumfriesshire; buried in Tweedsmuir, Dumfriesshire
5. Christian - born on the 29th of April, 1776, in Tweedsmuir
6. George - born on the 30th of March, 1779, and died on the 26th of October,1835 in Beild; married Fanny Little, born circa 1786, and died on the 14th of June, 1833 in Beild; buried in Tweedsmuir, Dumfriesshire
7. Adam - born on the 20th of April, 1781 at ‘Tweedhopefoot’, Tweedsmuir
8. Robert - born circa 1790 in ‘Carterhope’ Dumfriesshire; died on the 30th of August, 1865 at ‘Geneva Cottage’, Moffat

Ann Welsh died on the 20th of July, 1790 at ‘Greenhill’. She is buried in the Moffat Old Churchyard, Dumfries with her husband Adam Tait. Adam Tait died on the 5th of November, 1821 at 'Pacegillfoot’. He is buried in the Moffat Old Churchyard, Dumfries. Their headstone reads
“In memory of Adam Tait who died at Pacegillfoot Nov 5th 1821 aged 78 years. Also Ann Welsh his Wife who died at Greenhill July 20th 1790 aged 43 years. John their son died 7th Aug 1835 aged 68 years. And Robert son of the above John Tait died 1st Oct 1835 aged 21 years likewise Jean Renwick the above John Taits Spouse died Jan 22nd 1865 aged 87 years. Also George Tait their son who died 30th April 1878 aged 58 years. Also Robert Tait son of the above who died at Geneva Cottage Moffat August 30 1865 aged 75 years”
