Brothers Anthony and George must have had a positive relationship as they worked together, shared common interests and owned and leased land together. Some examples of their partnership include:
selling 81 crossbred 2-tooth ewes for 12s and 11d at the ‘Junction’ sale yards in June 1890
writing a letter to the Land Board and were granted a license with a fee of £1 1s in October 1896 in regard to Section 5 Block 2
donating £2 2s to the Indian Famine Fund in 1900
involvement in the church and school committees, both speaking at a farewell for a teacher 1897
attending a concert in August 1899 to raise funds for Otepopo school, where Anthony spoke on behalf of school committee as chair, George spoke on behalf of draughts club, and Thomas, Anthony’s son spoke on behalf of past pupils
It must have been with a heavy heart that Anthony arranged for the sale of George’s livestock and some farm implements after George’s passing in 1903. The sale at ‘Woodlands’ took place on Thursday the 19th March at 12:30pm and included stud Border Leicester sheep, crossbred sheep and farm implements. It was advertised as taking place to close the partnership accounts.
